Here in the United States alone, there are as many as 6 million car accidents over the course of a single year. In this car accidents there are as many as three million injuries sustained and sometimes, tragically, as many as 40,000 deaths. And while some car accidents are certainly very difficult to prevent, this is certainly not the case for every single one of them. After all, there are many causes of preventable car accidents and other such motor vehicle accidents.
For instance, driving while under the influence is hugely dangerous and can have equally huge repercussions. As a matter of fact, nearly 30 people die in drunk driving related incidents each and every day, with a new person becoming injured in such an event for every two minutes that pass, no matter what time of the day or of the night that it might be. For many people, their life is never the same in the aftermath of such an accident.
And drunk driving is far too prevalent, far more prevalent than it should be (which is, of course, not prevalent at all). Each and every day, there are as many as 300,000 people who get behind the wheel of a car while they are drunk. In addition to this, motor vehicle accidents that are caused by someone who is driving under the influence of a substance that is not alcohol are also far too common, making up as much as 16% of all car accidents and other such motor vehicle accidents sustained over the course of one single year here in the United States alone.
But, of course, driving under the influence is certainly not the only cause of car accidents here in the United States. In addition to this, unsecured or improperly secured materials in the back of trucks has become more prevalent than ever before as truck sales have continued to climb over the course of the last few years. After all, pickup trucks now actually represent more than 15% (around 18%, to be more precise) of all motor vehicle sales here in the United States.
And the toll that is taken by improperly secured material is a great one, as this material can all too easily fly off of the back of the truck and either injure someone directly or become road debris that later on causes an accident. In fact, such incidents cause as many a 200,000 accidents over the course of one single year. In that time and in these accidents, as many as 500 people are killed and very nearly 40,000 more (around 39,000 if you’re looking to be just a little bit more exact) sustain injuries. And while some of these injuries are more minor and easily recovered from, some will be very serious, life threatening, and even life changing in the long run. And the majority of the initial causes can be linked to cargo that was improperly secured in some way, shape, or form.
Fortunately, it is a relatively easy fix to make through the use of tools like truck tie downs. Truck tie downs come in all shapes and sizes, from truck bed tie downs (one of the more standard types of truck tie downs) to truck tie downs like retractable tie downs for trucks or even bull ring tie downs for trucks. All of these truck tie downs will be used in slightly different ways, meaning that some truck tie downs will be more suited for certain types of trucks than other truck tie downs are.
Of course, the type of truck tie downs that are ultimately used is something that the driver of the truck will need to weigh and consider thoroughly before making a final decision, as the use of truck tie downs (or the improper use of truck tie downs or even just the use of the wrong kind of truck die downs) can make or break a trip. In order to be as safe as is possible, the driver in question will need to use the right kind of truck tie downs and will need to make sure that they are using them correctly.
